ARD is "Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition." It is a program that has big benefits for anyone charged with DUI. If there is no defense to your DUI charge or if the defense is weak, you will probably want to get into the ARD program. Why?
ARD is essentially a period of probation with special terms and conditions. It allows you to avoid having a criminal conviction or guilty plea. It allows you to shorten your period of driver's license suspension significantly. You can avoid jail time. It is much better to get a thirty day license suspension and no jail time than it is to go to jail for 48 hours and get a 12 month suspension, for instance.
