Requirements for people on ARD in DUI cases

For a DUI case that gets into ARD, you will generally need to comply with the standard rules for all ARD cases, as well as certain DUI-specific rules. The DUI-specific rules are as follows:

Complete 35 hours of community service within four months of entry into ARD (the number of hours may vary under some circumstances -- community service is not just a requirement for DUI cases in the ARD program); and
Suspension of driver's license (for some cases); and
Attend a Victim Impact Panel; and
Complete DUI education classes; and
Complete a drug and alcohol evaluation; and
Complete any treatment recommended after being evaluated for drug and alcohol use/abuse; and
Pay your costs and fines in full (not just a DUI-ARD requirement, but an important one to highlight here).

If you complete all of these things in a timely fashion, you may be able to work with the ARD office and probation to shorten the time you spend on ARD. While probation officers are frequently hard-working, charming people, you don't necessarily want to involve them in your life more than absolutely necessary.
